Suzhou
Broadcasting System was formally established on January 1st,
2002. It’s a newly rebuilt first-class corporation, approved
by the CPC Suzhou Committee and the municipal government, on
the basis of the former Suzhou People’s Radio Station, Suzhou
TV Station, Suzhou Cable TV Network, Suzhou Broadcasting and
Television Weekly and Broadcasting System of former Wuxian County
etc. So far the System has four radio channels engaged in news
and comprehensive programs, economy, music and daily life, and
five TV channels concerning news and comprehensive programs,
social and economic life, culture & life, movie & entertainment
and life information respectively. Furthermore, the System also
holds Suzhou Broadcasting & Television Weekly, Broadcasting
Morning, Suzhou Broadcasting Fiber Network Company, Website
of 2500sz and Suzhou Radio and Video Circulation Company. With
a total asset of 800 million yuan, it is a comprehensive media
entity providing a vast range of services, particularly radio,
TV, transmission, network and newspaper services. |

Broadcasting System takes pride in a team of richly experienced
reporters, editors and anchors, of whom 72.24% are below 40.
The staff is composed of 17 senior editors and reporters, 2
country-level and province-level professional writers, 68 experienced
anchors, of whom one is a silver-prize holder of National Gold
Microphone Competition, and 234 bachelor-degree holders. The
System has won 27 national prizes and over 100 provincial ones.
"Six Episodes of Suzhou Gardens", "Water of Suzhou"
and other artistic features impress both the ordinary audience
and the professionals across the country. Grand live-broadcast
programs including "Life Twenty Hours -- Rescue of Chengxia
across the Taiwan Straits", "Mooncake of Chinese Reunion"
and "Centurial Trend across the Taiwan Straits", etc.
also achieve great success both at home and abroad. |

SBS
boasts altogether 4 pairs of studios (400 sq meters, 230 sq
meters, 180 sq meters and 80 sq meters in size respectively),
2 all-digital 8-channel transmission cars and 1 simulation transmission
car. With the speeding up of SBS’s digitalization, its self-made
four channels have all realized HD transmission. The digitalization
rate of the pre-production and after-production has reached
over 75% and all-solid transmission machine has accounted for
50% of the total. Computerization has been comprehensively achieved
with a regional network of over 300 knots. SBS has won 18 prizes
of technique of above provincial levels in the past 3 years. |

A
well-made “Four Competition” system has been launched in the
administration of SBS, resulting in healthy competition among
leaders, staff members, programs and fund making. Different
channels are encouraged to cooperate and compete with each other
and low-quality program will be washed out according to audience
rating. A program quality appraisal system based on the audience
rating, a economic return appraisal system based on cost and
profit evaluation and an efficiency appraisal system based on
staff member’s workload will be gradually set up. All efforts
taken are to transform SBS’s original operating mode of a government
organ into that of an enterprise. |

Suzhou
Broadcasting System endeavors to realize a doubled output in
five years with an over 10% annual increase in overall output
and an above-15% increase in profits and push itself among the
Top 30 from the current 50th status across the country. Therefore,
the System may further expand the coverage and accelerate the
quality of the broadcasting services in Suzhou. Meanwhile, it
is determined to speed up its industrialization process and
further adjusts itself to marketing economy to eventually realize
the development strategies of Suzhou Broadcasting Group. |
